Title: "NOAA Satellites: Why do they cost so much and what do all of those letters mean to me?"

Summary: Nicole Bartlett will provide a brief description of JPSS, the Joint Polar Satellite System, NOAA's largest satellite acquisition program, including the current Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (SNPP) satellite and the instruments on board (i.e. VIIRS, ATMS, CrIS, OMPS, CERES) that support NOAA's work on weather and ecological forecasts, climate prediction and fisheries science. Her focus will be on what users do with these data, including information on the JPSS Proving Ground, a granting program for demonstration/pilot projects.
