About...

Library service began when Spencer Fullerton Baird arrived in Woods Hole in 1871 as the first Commissioner of the US Commission of Fish and Fisheries. He set up a research laboratory which is now part of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center.

Collections cover...

Research areas include acoustics, biological oceanography, marine ecosystems, population dynamics, protected species, social sciences and stock assessments.

Laboratory staff obtain MBLWHOI Library cards to borrow materials there.

Woods Hole Lab Library materials are only loaned to staff and other libraries.
