James Manning, oceanographer, has been part of the Ecosystem Processes Division's Oceanography Branch of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center since 1987. He works with fishermen to collect basic physical oceanographic data (temperature, salinity, and current) throughout New England's coastal waters for the purposes of validating local numerical circulation models. His primary interest in developing low-cost solutions to longterm monitoring and ocean observing systems.
