Snapshot of 2017 Cooperative Research Activities Across the Science Center

Resulting from the 2016 Program Review of the Cooperative Research Branch, we have implemented a range of activities to improve internal and external communications. To address one of the recommendations to increase awareness and understanding of cooperative research within the Science Center, our staff have provided seminars and coordinated its first ever "Speed Talks" to illustrate the diversity of collaborations among many Divisions and laboratories of the NEFSC. These collaborations resulted in many scientific advancements that benefit our science--based fisheries management, help the fishing industry improve their business practices, and advance ecosystem fisheries science. Nineteen presentations by various NEFSC staff represented almost all science Divisions and multiple Branches. This was an enjoyable way to convey how involved the NEFSC is in collaborative research.
