Cooperative Black Sea Bass Tagging Project
This project presently uses two colors of Floy* Internal-Anchor wildlife tags. Orange tags compose 93.7% of the total number of releases and red tags make up the remaining 6.3%. They were inserted on the ventral side of the fish between the pectoral and anal fins. Both colors contrast well against the natural colors of the fish, but over time they may become less obvious as algae and/or barnacles grow on the tags themselves. The different colored tags correspond to different rewards; both types require participation of commercial and recreational fishermen to relay the information to the project for data collection.
