Cooperative Black Sea Bass Tagging Project
Lottery Drawing Details
Recently, we began offering a choice of reward to fishermen who report and return our orange internal anchor tags. As always, fishermen may choose to receive a cap (which has a tagged black sea bass embroidered on the front or, they may choose to enter our quarterly drawing for a chance to win $250.
Our third $250 drawing winner was selected on 30 November 2006. Woods Hole Science Aquarium intern Meghan Soderstrom selected black sea bass tag # 25397 from the fishbowl making Dean Isaacson of Virginia Beach our latest winner.
On 22 August 2006, we held our second random drawing to determine this quarter's winner of $250. This round, the winning tag was drawn by an 11 year old (5th grade) student at Walpole Elementary School, MA. Michael came to visit the Woods Hole Science Aquarium with his grandmother Pat and sister Katie. We surprised them with a request to draw the winning tag and rewarded them with an embroidered cap. Thank you Michael and congratulation Mr. Harrington.
Our first drawing was held on 30 June 2006, at the Woods Hole Science Aquarium, and the winning number was drawn by Abby, a twelve year old aquarium visitor. James Dawson from Chincoteague, Virginia submitted the winning tag (BSB #5956) and was awarded $250 for his participation in the program. Abby took advantage of the photo op to sport her new cap and share the spotlight with her siblings and cousins.
