NOAA Fisheries' Northeast Fisheries Science Center and Northeast Regional Office, and the New England Fishery Management Council have organized a one-day groundfish science forum for fishermen.
WHO: Panelists include stock assessment, fishery data, fishing, and modeling experts from a variety of institutions. The majority of the time is devoted to Q&A from participants.
WHAT: The forum will focus on groundfish fishery assessment data, models, methods, results, and issues.
WHERE: Courtyard Marriott, 1000 Market Street, Portsmouth, NH
WHEN: November 9, 2012, 8:30 AM to 4 PM
GOAL: To improve understanding of stock status, how stock assessments work, and devise next steps to improve communication and cooperation among industry, scientists, and fishery managers.
