Spring Conditions
on the Northeast Shelf by Subarea
The Northeast Continental Shelf ecosystem can be divided into four
major subareas: Gulf of Maine (GOM), Georges Bank (GB), Southern
New England (SNE) and the Middle Atlantic Bight (MAB), which reflect
different underlying oceanographic conditions and fishery management
boundaries. The regional variation in SST, chlorophyll, and zooplankton
biomass is evaluated by these subareas.
