The animals come from a variety of habitats. The grubby (above) is a bottom-dwelling cold water fish found from New Jersey north to Canada. The foureye butterflyfish (below) is a warm water animal that rides the Gulf Stream north to New England, where it perishes when the waters turn cold in the winter.

The aquarium usually holds seals that cannot be released for medical reasons; in 2006, we are not holding seals because we are renovating the seal habitat. We expect to have seals on display again in 2007
Most years we hold sea turtles for rehabilitation and release in late summer – if the turtles are small they may be held in display tanks during their rehabilitation
