Vounteers Are Needed!

Interns

The aquarium has a summer intern program for high school students. Most summers, the interns are in residence 30 hours per week for 4-6 weeks. The interns help care for animals, work on special projects, attend seminars and training sessions, and go on field trips.

Interns must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade, and must be at least 16 years old when the internship begins. Details of the summer intern program are announced in January or February. If you would like to be notified via e-mail when we are accepting applications, send an e-mail to George.Liles@NOAA.gov and ask to be on our "Notify" list.

Other Intern Possibilities

We do not currently have an intern program for students during the school year. We do consider hosting student interns during the school year on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in setting up an internship during the school year, contact George Liles at george.liles@noaa.gov

Volunteers

The aquarium usually has openings for volunteers. Our volunteers generally work a 2-4 hour shift, once a week. They help with preparing food, cleaning tanks, and feeding some of the animals. Other volunteers serve as guides to the aquarium during our busy weeks in the summer.

Some of our volunteers are high school students. Others are college students, working adults, or retirees.

If you think you might be interested in volunteering, contact George.Liles@NOAA.Gov
