Shark on the dock
Circa 1925
From the photograph collection of Paul Galtsoff
This shark (probably a porbeagle) was photographed on the dock outside
the original Fish Commission buildings, in front of the present-day NOAA
building just south of the aquarium.
The pier with the drawbridge was
part of a boat basin built in 1884 to provide small boats
refuge during storms. The vessel in the background is the original Albatross,
docked where the Albatross IV often docks today. |
