Hallway Poll #5 The Shield of Invisibility

Theoretical physicists have recently applied what's known about properties of light to show that a material could be built that would render objects beneath it invisible. Building such a material is still a stretch, especially one that could deflect visible light, but lots of people are working on it.

What would humans do with the ability to make themselves and their stuff invisible? Hmmmm... let's think of some examples. H.G. Wells' Invisible Man: goes nuts, turns criminal, killed. Kevin Bacon in "Hollowman": jerk becomes invisible jerk, goes nuts, killed. Romulans, the Anti-Vulcans (okay, technically not humans but played by them on TV): cloak their warships to gain tactical advantages over wholesome Federation star ships just minding their own business. Harry Potter: sneaks around and finds out stuff he should, and should not, know. You get the idea.

Given what you know, complete the following sentence:

The first materials devised that will deflect visible light rendering objects invisible to the human eye will be used for:

RESULTS:

  • Good - 8
  • Evil - 35
