Evaluation of advanced technologies to improve ecosystem monitoring. The
Investigation is committed to improving monitoring techniques for planktonic
components of the marine ecosystem. To this end, research has begun to
evaluate the Video Plankton Recorder as a instrument to improve monitoring.
The Video Plankton Recorder is like a towed underwater microscope.
Zooplankton are quantified from digital video images providing finer spatial
and temporal scale information on the distribution of plankton.
